Meet Dolce’s Legacy | Dog Cancer Support, Canine Hospice & Holistic Care
I’ve had a lot of new people find my little page lately, so I should probably introduce myself. I’m beyond grateful for the new followers, but I also want to make sure it’s known that this is a page that supports our pets and their humans alike through food therapy, herbalism, and homeopathy.
My name is Bronwyn, and Dolce’s Legacy is the work I never expected to be doing, but somehow, Dolce knew I was meant for it. Yesterday, I read something that said, “They lead us to our soul work, in their life as well as in our grief.” One of my favorite things I’ve ever heard about hospice is that it is not a job, it’s a calling. It simply moves your soul… at least for me, it does.
To be honest, I’m still blown away by the outpouring of communication I received from the caregiver burnout post last week. The thought that more than 800 people felt strongly enough to react, and over 100 people shared it, is humbling to say the least. For that many people to connect with my words and feel seen… I’m still sitting with that. I tried to answer every comment, and I truly hope people found value in the blog itself. The amount of private messages and emails I received from people just saying thank you still means more than I can explain.
Like many life passions, mine began with an iconic catalyst. For me, Dolce was that life-altering catalyst. He saw me through so much of my own personal life, and then through his loss, he showed me how to become that same kind of support for others. Grief can move through you like embers naturally floating into the sky. When Dolce was diagnosed with advanced osteosarcoma, we lost him within weeks of finding it. Losing him completely altered the course of my life, and in 2021, I founded Dolce’s Legacy in his honor and in response to the need I saw in families caring for sick dogs.
Almost daily, I hear some version of, “I wish I’d found you sooner,” or “I didn’t know this type of platform existed.” And sometimes it is simply, “I didn’t even know you did consultations.” That does not only come from families with terminal dogs. For me, if we can bend the learning curve around cancer statistics even a smidge, I’ll take it. That is why, when I do consultations, I look at all of the dogs in the house, whether it’s a cancer intake or someone just wanting to change their dog’s diet to fresh food to help with issues like itchy skin and food stagnation.
So, do I do consultations for a fee? Yes, I do! Is this my day job? Yes, it is! Does it have to be a terminal diagnosis? Nope. I love my puppy programs and healthy kids too! The thing I don’t want is for this page to feel like one long advertisement. Plus, I need people to understand that writing is one of the ways I release and support my own nervous system. Some weeks I’ll put out six blogs, and then I may go silent for weeks. I write because it helps me process, and in that same breath, I hope someone finds some form of support in those words.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you. Truly. Thank you for being here, for supporting this page, and for letting me share the pieces of my work that matter so much to me. If you want to read Dolce’s story, I’ll put the link in the comment section.
And because Facebook algorithms are quite the nudge, if you ever read something here and it gives you the warm fuzzies, interact with me. Say hi, send a heart — whatever feels right. Those little things really do help this page keep finding the people who may need it. The more this page reaches the right people, the more Dolce’s Legacy can continue showing up as the real work it is.
