Greek Salad: What Those TCM Labels Actually Mean

TCVM, TCM, Liver Qi, Spleen Qi deficiency, and then we begin sprinkling in ideas like organs having relationships with each other, almost like family roles inside the body: Mother/Child patterns, and how one system can influence another. Trust me, when I began my journey into this world, it was enough to make my eyes cross. So, in writing this, I hope to make this language feel a bit less overwhelming and foreign. My hope is that when I use TCM or TCVM terms with clients, they have a little bridge between the terminology and what they may actually be seeing in front of them at home. I never want my words to feel like I just threw Greek salad at them when the situation is already frustrating. When we are stressed, it is easy to get caught on words or symptoms. What I want is for us to step back and look at what the entire body is doing, not just the symptom sitting in front of us.

TCVM, TCM, Liver Qi, Spleen Qi deficiency - when I began this journey, it was enough to make my eyes cross. Here's the bridge: what those labels actually mean, from a lipoma to a CKD dog who started eating breakfast again.

TCM and TCVM labels explained. Bronwyn Farley, CAHC, founder of Dolce's Legacy, offers phone consultations, canine cancer doula support, dog hospice and palliative care, holistic canine nutrition, food therapy, and pet advocacy.
